Don't Suffer in Silence

Your liver is, quite possibly, the most important organ in your in your digestive system. With four main reasons being, it secretes bile, which helps in the digestive process, and handles fat. Also, it handles toxins. It cleans others organs, and last, but not least, it makes certain blood proteins. Because it cleans other organs, taking care of your liver can benefit your entire body, and make you a much happier, healthier person.
Just because your liver does not have obvious problems, does not mean you have a healthy liver. Sadly,
because the world we live in is toxic, many of our livers are suffering in silence. After revealing this, you may
be saying,''This is all very well, but how can I help my liver?'' Here are some some suggestions: For starters,  taking bad food out of your diet is vital. This would be fast food, alchohol and bad fats (more on this later). Next, eat foods that support your liver such as, beets, walnuts, lemons, kale, coconut, avacados, and chicken livers. You can also make this shake, and it will help to gently clean and support your liver.

Lemony Liver Cleanse
  • One whole lemon, seeds removed,un pealed.
  •  One tablespoon of extra virgin coconut oil.
  •   One cup of hot water.
Blend ingredients in blender until smooth.
Don't let your liver suffer in silence; make yourself happier, healthier person.

(Please note: I am not a doctor, and none of these statements have been approved by the FDA).

With winter coming on, many of us just want to stay at home and relax, and just be lazy, but we really just don't have the time.  However, you now have a reason to make time - detox baths! These baths not only feel really good and give you a good reason to fill up the bathtub, but they also help your body get rid of heavy metals and radiation. There are two of them, one for heavy metals ,and the other for radiation. They both also help strengthen your immune system, so you can fight off illnesses better.

           For heavy metals:
  • 2  - 32oz. bottles of hydrogen peroxide
  • 1 cup of  apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup of epsom salts
            For radiation:
  • 2 - 32 oz. bottles of hydrogen peroxide
  • 1 cup of  Borax
  • 1 cup of baking soda
Simply pour the ingredients into the bathtub and fill it up with water. Enjoy!

Many of you may not have heard this, but the honeybee population has been rapidly decreasing over the last 7 years.  While many theories have been formed as to why this is happening, we finally may have found the problem.  This problem may bee nicotinoids; many crop seeds are coated with these chemicals, and it has been found that on one corn kernel alone there is enough chemicals to kill 10,000 bees. This a real threat to the world's food source, as out of the top 100 major food crops, 71 require bees and  to pollinate them. You may say, "This is all very well, but what can I do?" The answer is, you can raise awareness of this terrible threat by telling all of your friends about this problem.

Many of  us have, doubtless, heard some of the controversial reports about cell phone radiation and how it may be linked to brain cancer.  While many of us may have simply shrugged this off and called it, "...a bunch of lies spoken merely to get attention." Research has lately been finding that it may be more than that, and it may actually have some truth in it. In fact, here is a quote frome the iPhone 3gs users manual.

(Phone’s SAR measurement may exceed the FCC exposure guidelines for
body-worn operation if positioned less than 15 mm (5/8 inch) from the
body (e.g. when carrying iPhone in your pocket). For optimal mobile device
performance and to be sure that human exposure to RF energy does not
exceed the FCC, IC, and European Union guidelines, always follow these
instructions and precautions: When on a call using the built-in audio receiver
in iPhone, hold iPhone with the dock connector pointed down toward your
shoulder to increase separation from the antenna. When using iPhone near
your body for voice calls or for wireless data transmission over a cellular
network, keep iPhone at least 15 mm (5/8 inch) away from the body, and only
use carrying cases, belt clips, or holders that do not have metal parts and that
maintain at least 15 mm (5/8 inch) separation between iPhone and the body.)

Please remember that this is simply a word of caution and the best thing you can do is simply to try to limit your exposure. This may include simple things like making land line calls when you can,and notcarrying it around wherever you go.

Research has lately been finding that essential oils can kill harmful bacteria and fungus. In fact, a quote from Mercola.com cited this study:

"Dr. Diane Horne of Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, told the 98th general assembly of the American Society of Microbiology about the serendipitous discovery of the impact of the oils on cells such as Streptococcus pneumonia.
A coresearcher was spraying aromatic oils in the laboratory. "When I looked at the S. pneumonia that I was preparing for another experiment, the cells were just falling apart," Dr. Horne reported. Dr. Horne and coworker Sue Chao, of the Young Living Essential Oil Company of Payton, Utah, tested the autolyzing properties of 74 different essential oils.
The best results occurred with oregano, thyme and rosewood and intermediate inhibition of the pathogens was achieved with cinnamon oil and clove oil, Dr. Horne said at a poster presentation at the meeting. Dr. Horne pointed out that the oils also showed efficacy against E. coli and several species of fungi."

After reading this you may be wondering how you can get essential oils.  Many health food stores sell them, or you can them online. I ,personally, have found oregano oil good for killing fungus; it also helps with respiratory issues. Clove is good for tummy aches and diarrhea. Hooray for herbs!

Many of you may be saying, "All these things sound great, but they're kind-of expensive. Is there anything cheap that I can do to improve my overall health and still lose weight?" The answer is yes. You can go workout. No, you do not  need a gym membership. All you need is the clothes you're wearing, so scoot that  chair away from your computer, walk to your car, and drive to a nice, grassy field. Set up some markers about 50 meters apart, and go slow, medium, fast between the markers for at least 5 minutes. Good luck!

How do you breathe? Through your nose, or through your mouth? Through your chest, or through your belly? Despite how unimportant it may sound, it is key to many things including, weight loss, long life, circulation, and your general health and well being.  In fact, it has been proven that a few deep breaths result in stress relief . By now you may be wondering how to breathe properly. The answer is through your nose, and into your belly. A good way to practice this is if every time you get up in the morning, you take five deep breaths through your nose, and into your belly. Anyway, Healthy Helperton is signing off.

With summer coming on, many of us are looking for a healthy and refreshing drink that doesn't break the bank or taste like a health shake.  So, I decided to share this recipe for lemonade from Elana's Pantry.  The best part about this recipe is that it also cleanses your liver and your kidneys! Possibly the most important thing to your health and general well being is your gut. You may be shocked about this, but it is true. As a matter of fact, your gut serves as a second brain, contributing more to your mood than your brain, itself. The most important thing to your gut's health, is an abundance of friendly bacteria. You can get friendly bacteria from lacto-fermented foods, including sauerkraut, kefir (water kefir, or the more traditional milk kefir), kombucha, and last, but, not least - a high-quality probiotics supplement.

- Our sincere condolences are extended to all who suffered from the Boston City Marathon bombing.-

Many people suffer from diabetes, stomach aches, headaches, and cancer. Very few, however, know that this could all be fixed with one simple and common herb found in many peoples' kitchens. Can you guess what it is?  The answer is cayenne pepper ! Yep, you read correctly: cayenne pepper. Should you wish to experience the benefits of it, you can put it into your smoothies, you can take it inside your own capsules, and last, but not least, you can also put into your food. Spice up your life with cayenne.

The most important thing to becoming healthy is a good diet, so I decided to make a list of ten things to avoid. (It may be easier to only cut out one thing each week, or month, depending on how you think you can handle it.)

  1. Sugar
  2. Carbonation
  3. High fructose corn syrup
  4. Sorbitol
  5. Caffeine
  6. White flour
  7. Canola oil
  8. Soybeans
  9. Pasteurized, homogenized, non-organic milk
  10. Food coloring
-Hope this helps-
